Ponder: A First Look at Wendell's New Master-Planned Community

Ponder welcomed the public on October 24th and 25th for Ponder Days, a weekend celebrating the grand opening of this new master-planned community in Wendell, NC.

I've been following Ponder's development for a while now, and it's been interesting to watch everything come together. With Ponder House now open, five model homes available to tour, and construction underway throughout the community, visitors had a chance to see what Ponder is all about.

A Community Designed Around Open Space

One of the things that stands out about Ponder is its setting. The community is surrounded by mature trees along its perimeter, and approximately 120 of its 480 acres have been preserved for open space. That's 25% of the overall development.

As you enter Ponder, you'll pass The Canopy and Catcher's Cove, where residents will be able to fish, before making your way toward Ponder House and the model homes.

Celebrating Ponder Days

There was plenty happening throughout the weekend. Food trucks and games were set up near the model homes, while the Lakeside Lawn hosted live music, yoga, bubbles, and other outdoor activities.

Visitors also had the opportunity to tour five model homes from Ponder's three builders: Garman Homes, Brookfield Residential, and Homes by Dickerson. With home designs starting in the mid $300s and extending into the high $500s, buyers have a variety of floor plans, sizes, and price points to explore.

A First Look Inside Ponder House

One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to explore the completed Ponder House, which will serve as a central gathering place for residents.

Inside, you'll find a spacious gathering area, kitchen and dining space, and fitness center, all with large windows bringing in natural light.

For me, one of the best features is the outdoor space. The nearly 2,000-square-foot deck overlooks Ponder Lake, with plenty of seating to enjoy the views. There's also a covered outdoor fireplace, additional fire pit seating, and a dock along the lake.

Just the Beginning for Ponder

Ponder is still in the early stages of development, with approximately 1,900 homes planned once the community is fully built out.

Additional amenities, including a community pool, pickleball courts, Turtle Park playground, and lakeside camping areas, are planned as development continues.

Ponder Days gave visitors a first look at how the community is coming together. There's still plenty of development ahead, and it's exciting to see Ponder Lake, the open space, and outdoor gathering areas being incorporated into the community.
